Boston Strong

On Wednesday October 3rd, 2012, the Boston Red Sox finished the regular season with a record of 69 wins and 93 losses. They were in dead last place in the American League East. They opened the 2013 season with little hope as they were in a rebuilding year. The season would be anything but rebuilding. On April 15th during the Boston Marathon, two bombs went off. Three people died, and over two hundred and fifty were injured. Before the Boston Red Sox' game following the bombings David Ortiz gave a speech.
The rest of the season would be full of ups from a team aspect. The Red Sox finished the regular season with a record of 97-65. Tied with the St. Louis Cardinals for the best record in the MLB. They then proceeded to beat the Tampa Bay Rays 3-1 in the wild card round, and then Detroit 4-2 in the American League Championship Series. Only four more wins stand between the Red Sox and the World Series Title. They last won it in 2007 defeating the Colorado Rockies.

Go Sox!

  1. I've always been a big fan of David Ortiz, and his speech at Fenway before the game after the bombings was honestly great. I feel like he really got the city of Boston pumped and ready to stand behind they're beloved Red Sox. As for the Red Sox themselves, what a great season. You look at what they did last year, and it makes what they did this season even more remarkable. I think the Red Sox are going to win the World Series this year. Good pitching and a solid lineup all the way from their lead off hitter to their number 9 hitter. Not to take anything away from St.Louis, but this is the Red Sox year.

  2. The Boston Red Sox got hot and went into the playoffs fired up and you could see there determination in taking home the world series trophy. David Ortiz, a former Minnesota Twin, took his game to the next level and absolutely dominated at the plate. Through four games played in the world series, David Ortiz was batting an insanely .727 with 11 runs batted in. No one was even close to Ortiz's numbers that he put up. He is a very enjoyable player to watch because of his skill and love for the game. Besides Ortiz, both pitching staff for the Red Sox and Cardinals battled and did not allow much offense to be produce. It was an awesome World Series!
