Jadeveon Clowney (Left) and Teddy Bridgewater (Right) are the top two prospects in the 2014 draft |
That's why I believe that Louisville's Teddy Bridgewater would be a perfect fit right here. He has the decision making skills and athleticism that every offensive coordinator dreams about. With a completion percentage in the high 60's and a sub 4.5 40 yard dash, he is able to make plays with his arm as well as his legs. That is something that teams are transitioning into with this new pass happy league.
Now if the season were to be completed I believe that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would have the first overall pick. They Chose Mike Glennon at quarterback last year in the second round, and i believe they are willing to give him a chance with a full season next year. So they'll focus on another position. I believe that they'll select Jadeveon Clowney with the first overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft.
Clowney has the size, speed, athleticism, and knowledge that could solidify any defensive line. At 6'6" and 260 lbs, he has been called the next Julius Peppers, which is quite the generous comparison. He more than proved himself worthy of the first overall pick last season, however this season his production has slowed a little bit. Despite this fact, I still believe that he is malleable enough to become the next great pass rusher in the NFL.
I've shared my personal opinions, but feel free to comment who you think will have the first overall pick, and who might be going first overall in the 2014 NFL draft.

ReplyDeleteHi Matt, I love your article. If Tampa does have the 1st overall pick, they should draft Jadeveon Clowney, as Mike Glennon looks to be a promising young QB. Yes Clowney has had a down year, but this is more than likely due to teams scheming plays away from him, with more screens and delayed draws to offset his innate ability to pass rush. I believe Bridgewater has all the intangibles in what a franchise looks for today. He has a great arm and vision, plays well in a pro offense and he has shown he can read defenses well at the line of scrimmage. While I still have a small glimmer of hope my beloved Vikings can get one of the first two picks, I too believe the Jacksonville Jaguars will probably draft Bridgewater if given the chance.
