Arsenic in our Food

There has been a recent study that there is a low level amount of arsenic in rice. The FDA has tested over 1300 types of rice and conclude that the amount of arsenic won't have any short term effect, but what about the long term effects?

Arsenic is a chemical that is used for pesticides and herbicides. It is also naturally found in soils and minerals around the world. It is highly poisonous for humans and can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, minor paralysis and can even blind one's eye.
The FDA has approved its safety, but these rice are being made into many rice products such as cereals, bars and even baby food. They shouldn't be allowing these contaminated rice to be consumed by children or babies. Children and babies are more prone to dangerous chemicals. It may lead to brain dysfunctions, lung cancer or respiratory diseases later in their lives. Studies have shown that children who consumed arsenic have lower IQ's in schools.

To prevent yourself or others from getting sick from these chemicals in your food. Make sure you do your research to know where the produce is being produced and making sure the quality is high. It's also about maintaining a good proportional diet with a variety of foods to lower that chances of consuming too much contamination from one source of food. Don't forget to always, wash every fruit, vegetable and meat when purchased from the super market.
